Dr. Harlan is Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the University of Washington. He served as Head of the Division of Hematology at UW and as Chief of Hematology-Oncology and Associate Medical Director at Harborview Medical Center. He is board-certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology and has been selected as “Best Doctors in America”, “Seattle’s Best Doctors”, and “Top Seattle Doctors”. Dr. Harlan is currently active as a co-program director for a new Hematology-Oncology fellowship program for East African physicians in a partnership between UW and Fred Hutch and the Uganda Cancer Institute in Kampala.
Dr. Harlan’s research focus is vascular biology and inflammation with over 200 publications and designation as a ‘Highly Cited’ researcher in Immunology. He has been a member of several editorial boards including Blood, The Journal of Immunology, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation and he has served on the scientific advisory board or as consultant for multiple biotechnology companies.
